The Icelandic language is a melodious Northern European language that evolved a millennium ago from a still earlier core Scandinavian tongue, unconsciously modified to facilitate poetic flow and rote memorization of lengthy sagas. The crown jewel of the language is its verb usage. To the English speaking student it initially will appear complex and convoluted but soon becomes transparent and most useful.
