“Description of the beats of Laxá – Laxá í Mývatnssveit”

The upper section of the Laxá River is extremely extensive and varied, and it took time to gain a clear overview of that part of the river. This guide is based on our decades of fishing experience in the area, but it was Kolbeinn Grímsson who first introduced us to the river. Kolbeinn did not hold back his knowledge, and therefore we feel it is our duty to share what he taught us, as well as what we have learned since.

The area is divided into eight sections: Arnarvatn, Brettingsstaðir, Geirastaðir, Geldingey, Hamar, Helluvað, Hofstaðaeyja, and Hofstaðir. The extent of each fishing area is described, and numerous aerial photographs accompany each section. Place names and fishing spots are marked on the images. The fishing locations are identified along with descriptions of the conditions at each site and the wading routes.
